About
Hi! My name is Casey Marcotte. I married my High School Sweetheart, Troy in March of 2002. We have two children, a daughter, Caylin and a son, Brydon. We enjoy lots of family activities together including; hiking, biking, walking the dog, playing at the beach, camping, and going out to eat together.
Before opening my preschool I worked as a Nurses Assistant while attending college. I graduated with a degree is Nutrition and am a Registered Dietetic Technician. After graduation I worked at the WIC office, a supplemental food and nutrition program for low income families. I loved working with families and helping them with Nutrition and fitness goals. While at WIC I taught Childrens Yoga classes, took part in implementing a "Moving Mamas" fitness walking group, taught classes for infant, toddler and preschool developmental feeding practices. I also obtained a Certified Lactation Counselor certificate during this time and was Breastfeeding Coordinator for our program. I taught monthly breastfeeding classes, monitored breast pump rentals and was available to nursing Moms for support.
Another career dream of mine was to be a Kindergarten Teacher. I've always loved working with young children. In 2002 My husband supported me in going back to college at night. During this time I took several early childhood related classes. In 2005 I attended CDA York County where I obtained my Child Development Associate. I knew I wanted to be home with my children as much as possible. Before we had children I started preparing for my next career adventure, one that would allow me the flexibility and time I desired, while doing something I love. In June 2005 we welcomed our daughter and May 2008, our son.
We finished a space above our garage that would soon be the home of Country Kids Preschool. I opened Country Kids in the Fall of 2006 in Lyman, Maine. Six years later we built a second garage attaching and expanding the preschool space allowing me a larger group and classroom helper. I was absolutely in love with my job! Every day was a new day full of wonder, smiles, laughter and joy together.
After lots of thought and research, we put our home in Lyman on the market with a strong desire to move to Wells. We sold our home in December 2014. I ran Country Kids Preschool, Lyman for 9 years right up to our December closing date! We moved to Wells seeking more educational opportunities for our children and in our search for a home, it was top priority to have space where Country Kids could once again exist. I love working from home, but also enjoy having our Preschool space seperate from my family's living space. I am so pleased and happy we found a great location for our new home and business and to be in another great community. I look forward to all the fun and learning that will happen in our new Wells location.
Nutrition and Fitness
With a love for Health and Fitness and a background in Nutrition, it is my pleasure to share fun, healthy food experiences and information with children and families at Country Kids. Nutritious snacks are provided daily in our preschool program. This time is an important part of our curriculum. Teachers use this time to model and talk with children about healthy eating habits, vitamins in our foods, why our bodies need a healthy variety and practice good table manners.
It has been another goal of mine to encourage physical activity in a safe and fun environment. Throughout our morning , there are several group activities where we move our major muscle groups and get our hearts pumping. We call this our FUN O' FIT time. Gross motor skills are not the only area in focus. While playing and having fun, children are also learing to follow directions, take turns, share, and develop new skills in a way that makes learning enjoyable. I enjoy "exercise" and believe that stems from fitness being made fun when I was a child. It is a goal of mine to pass this love to my preschool group.

5210 Let's Go! & Partners for Healthier Communities
We have been the proud recipients of not one, but two mini grants. One grant proposal was for fitness materials to be used during our FUN O' FIT time. We were awarded $500 to fullfill our proposal and purchased fitness cd's, hopper balls, dancing scarves, potato sacks, a tactile balance beam, stilts, indoor balls, parachute game book, kids yoga cards, and much more! We were thrilled they supported this goal. A couple of years later we applied again with a mini grant proposal to "Amp Up Nutrition" in all learning centers around the classroom. Nutrition can go beyond snack time and special activities. We were once again awarded the budget to shop! I purchased a floor size skelton puzzle, fruit and vegetable counting and patterning games, a child's size apron with velcro organs to show children parts of their digestive tract, fruit and vegetable art stamps, "My Plate" magnetic set, The food guide pyramid for our felt board and more! We were also the lucky recipients of a Communtiy Transformation Grant that allowed us to purchase more of these types of great items to make learning fun and exciting in our classroom. This community suppport in an area I'm already passionate about has helped do amazing things in our program.
